My iPhone says “iPhone Unavailable” – Why ?

This problem occurs when the passcode has been entered a number of times incorrectly

1. When the passcode has been incorrectly entered 5 times consecutively, you’ll see “iPhone Unavailable, try again in 1 minute.”
2. When the passcode has been incorrectly entered 6 times consecutively, you’ll see “iPhone Unavailable, try again in 5 minutes.”
3. When the passcode has been incorrectly entered 7 times consecutively, you’ll see “iPhone Unavailable, try again in 15 minutes.”
4. When the passcode has been incorrectly entered 8and 9 times consecutively, you’ll see “iPhone Unavailable, try again in 60 minutes.”

The solution for each of these is simply wait the appropriate time and then enter the correct passcode.

Unfortunately when the passcode has been incorrectly entered 10 times consecutively, you’ll see “iPhone Unavailable” with no timer, which means your iPhone is permanently locked out – the only solution in this case is to wipe the phone and restore factory settings using iTunes.
